On average, elementary school children get six to eight colds each school year, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. For high school kids, it's about half of that; and seasonal allergies are believed to affect as many as 40% of U.S. children. Although the symptoms of colds and allergies can be similar, there are also some key differences.
