Hearing Loss and Dementia

How important is hearing to your overall brain health as you age?  According to a new study by Johns Hopkins and National Institute on Aging, seniors with hearing loss are far more likely to develop dementia over time than those who maintain their hearing.

We asked Paige Holt, Doctor of Audiology at Lake ENT about how hearing loss impacts the lives of her patients and their family members.

We've included an online link to the Hopkins study and for more information about the audiology services and specialists at Lake ENT, please click the link.

Hearing Seminar

According to a USA Today article, about 36 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss and, with 10,000 Americans turning 65 each day, that number is expected to shoot up.
However, it’s estimated that only 20% affected by age related hearing loss actually seek medical help.  Why?

We caught up with Paige Holt, Doctor of Audiology at Lake ENT during a free community seminar.

Lake ENT’s audiologists are scheduled for more upcoming free seminars.  For the most up-to-date list of dates, time, locations and subjects check out our home page and follow us on Facebook.
