Diabetic neuropathy is a serious and common complication of diabetes. It often causes numbness in the feet and legs. Such nerve damage can lead to sores that don't heal, ulcers and even amputation.
Don Bowman, a patient at Tri-County Foot and Ankle, explained that the numbness caused by his diabetic neuropathy prevented him from feeling a nail he had stepped on. He sought help from his podiatrist, Dr. Dan Wassell, and recently shared his story as a cautionary tale for others.
