Prevent The Stent

No surprise that the best way to ward off a cardiac event is with education and prevention; two critical tools used by Dr. Nitza Alvarez at  Tri-County Heart Institute to help her patients, or potential patients, stay healthy and prevent the stent.

Also, if you’re looking for more ways to a healthier heart, you can join Dr. Alvarez every second Saturday of the month for Walk With a Doc. Participants will enjoy a brief presentation on an important health topic followed by a “walk-at-your-own-pace” lead by Dr. Alvarez. And, we’ll have highlights from her two Heels Vs Ties February appearances and book signings in our March episode.

At The Heart Of It

When it comes to the heart, believe it or not, women are very different from their male counterparts. So much so, that it inspired Dr. Nitza Alvarez at Tri-County Heart Institute to write a book about the subject. She sat down with us to talk about the differences between men and women and why she wrote her book, Heels vs Ties.

Also, you can join Dr. Alvarez every second Saturday of the month for Walk With a Doc. Participants will enjoy a brief discussion on an important health topic followed by a “walk-at-your-own-pace” lead by Dr. Alvarez to help people incorporate physical exercise into their routines.

We caught up with Dr. Alvarez recently as she moved her weekly Walk-With-A-Doc to the Leesburg Regional Medical Center Foundation’s Mistletoe Trot 5k in December.  The 5k serves as a fundraiser for the LRMC Foundation. Tri County Heart Institute sponsored one of the water stations, while Dr. Alvarez and a few of her patients enjoyed a leisurely walk around Silver Lake.
