Hometown Health Headlines - November 2018

These are some of the top stories making Hometown Health Headlines in Lake County:


  • Health officials in Lake County are urging residents to get their flu shot before the height of flu season. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, last year’s record-breaking flu season resulted in the highest number of deaths from the flu in over three decades.   • Every year, on the third Thursday of November, smokers across the nation take part in the American Cancer Society Great American Smokeout. The Florida Department of Health in Lake County wants to help. In collaboration with the Central Florida Area Health Education Center they are offering free, Quit Tobacco Classes.

The second annual Soup For Good fundraiser benefitting The Open Door drop-in center for the homeless in Eustis, raised over 38-thousand dollars to go toward helping the homeless in our community.
