DVT Threat

Deep vein thrombosis or DVT is a serious condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein located deep inside your body.

When the clot dislodges from where it formed and travels in the blood, an embolism can occur. An embolism is when the clot becomes stuck in a narrower blood vessel, elsewhere in the body.

Dr. Charlie Han of Veins Florida explains that these deep leg veins are not the veins that you can see just below the skin nor are they the same as varicose veins.
