According to a panel of nutrition experts, there are six super foods every woman should include in her diet.
Kicking off our list is low fat yogurt, which is chock full of probiotics, which are bacteria that protect you in a number of ways.
There is also evidence showing that low fat yogurt helps with some digestive issues, can reduce the risk of stomach ulcers and vaginal infections and provides bone-healthy calcium, which every woman needs.
Fatty fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel offer omega-3 fatty acids and helps protect from a number of key health threats, including heart disease, stroke, joint pain and depression.
Beans are good sources of protein and fiber and may have protective effects against heart disease and breast cancer. In fact, one nutritionist said beans are among one of the healthiest things a woman can eat.
The next super food is tomatoes or any other fruit that contains lycopene such as watermelon, red grapefruit and navel oranges. Three to five servings per week are recommended for these foods that may protect against prostate cancer and recent research shows lycopene may help you look younger by protecting against UV damage from the sun.
Vitamin D low fat milk or orange juice help the bones absorb calcium and may be vital in reducing the risk of diabetes, multiple sclerosis and tumors of the breast, colon and ovary.
And one more super food to add to your diet: berries. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and cranberries contain powerful anti-cancer nutrients believed to play a role in cell repair.
