Controlling Cholesterol

We have long known that smoking is linked to cardiovascular disease, as is obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Dr. Nitza Alvarez, of the Tri-County Heart Institute in The Villages, is heading up a detailed clinical study on the effectiveness of a new, natural, cholesterol-lowering product for a group of female-only participants.

Evening Beneath The Stars

Danger In The Air

While smoking can increase our chances for developing COPD, new research shows that when children are exposed to second hand smoke, they too can develop the disease. The study results also suggest that adult exposure to secondhand smoke increases the risk of death from COPD, heart disease and stroke.
