Four years ago, The Florida Hospital Waterman Foundation began hosting an annual “Celebration of Life” gala. All proceeds directly support the Florida Hospital Waterman Heart Center.

This year's event will take place Sunday, May 5th at Mission Inn and include a silent auction, dinner, a live auction and a performance by Comedian Mark Eddie.

During the last weekend in June, Team Hometown Health was on the scene at the New Beginnings Health, Wellness and Fun Fair in downtown Clermont.


The event took place at the First United Methodist Wesley Center with over 70 health and wellness vendors offering free medical screenings, nutritional information and healthy living tips.

This month we are on location from Florida Hospital Waterman – recently named one of the 20 most beautiful hospitals in the country.
With more than 70,000 online votes cast, Soliant, a medical staffing company, recently revealed the ranking of the top 20 most Beautiful Hospitals in America which included three hospitals in the state of Florida – more than any other state in the country.

Community Health Center Week

The week of August 7th-13th marks National Community Health Center Week.

We talked with Mellissa Simmes, Manager of the Waterman Community Primary Health Clinic to talk about the role their facility plays in helping those in need.

Take Stock in Children


It’s that time of the year again – time for the 2011 Corporate Spelling Bee to benefit the Take Stock in Children scholarship program. Last year, dozens of area businesses, including some Hometown Health specialists, faced off to test their spelling prowess, all for a good cause.  And, yours truly will once again serve as official MC and Bee Keeper.

Healthcare watchdog, The Leapfrog Group has released a new report card for hospital safety. More than 2,600 U.S. hospitals will now receive an A, B, C, D or F Hospital Safety Score.
